Banking / Currency:
 

The official currency of India is the Indian Rupee (INR). The paper currency / notes come in denominations of INR 5, INR 10, INR 20, INR 50, INR 100, INR 500 and INR 1000. Coins come in denominations of INR 1, INR 2, INR 5 and INR 10.

Banking hours are as follows:

Monday to Friday : 10.00 to 15.00
Saturday : 10.00 to 13.00
Sunday : Closed

ATMs linked to international networks are common in most towns and cities in India. However, carry cash or travellers cheques as backup.

 
Credit Card:
 

The most commonly accepted cards are Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus, Maestro and Plus. Banks in India that reliably accept foreign cards include Citibank, HDFC, ICICI, UTI, HSBC, the Punjab National Bank and the State Bank of India.

Office Business Hours : 9 am to 5pm (Weekdays) closed during weekends.
 
Time:
 
The Indian standard time is 5.5 hours (5 hours 30 minutes) ahead of (GMT+5.5). India Time does not operate Daylight Saving Time.
 
Climate and Clothing:
 

Daytime temperature in September ranges from 25-34°C and in the evening temperature varies between 20-24°C.

It is advisable to carry light cotton clothing.

 
Drinking Water:
 
Packaged (bottled) water of major brands is widely available in almost all the retail stores in Delhi.
 
Healthcare in New Delhi:
 
New Delhi has a vast supply of public and private health care services. The services range from the super speciality, tertiary level care hospitals to the general practitioners.
 
Languages:
 
English is understood and spoken in all the offices in Delhi. Hindi is the national language.
 
SIM Card:
 

Most international airports in India have counters where you can buy SIM cards for phone. These counters are usually located right after the custom clearance section. For procuring a local SIM card please carry the following documents-  

  • Photocopy of the name page of your passport, a copy of the Indian visa page in your passport, and a passport sized picture as well.
  • Get proof of where you're staying in India
  • Proof of residency in your home country.

If you don't get a SIM card at the airport, you should be able to get a prepaid SIM card from a local, independent cell phone dealer.

  • Reliance 
  • BSNL and MTNL: State owned telecommunications providers.

It is advisable to carry travel plug adapters.

Support Room

 

A support room with internet access, printing and scanning facilities would be provided at the National Museum Institute and at Vigyan Bhawan.

 

Dress Code

 

The delegates are requested to be dressed in formals for all the following functions:-

  • Welcome Dinner hosted by Honourable Minister of Culture, Government of India on 7th September 2015 at 7:30pm at the Fountain Lawn, India International Centre.
  • Rashtrapati Bhawan visit and Reception on 8th September 2015, 2:30 pm onwards.
  • Farewell Dinner hosted by Vice- Chancellor, National Museum Institute on 9th September 2015 at 7:30pm at the Delhi CSOI.
 

Presentation Equipment

 

Session rooms are equipped with projectors and PC computers. Presenters are requested to bring their presentation on a USB key for a hassle free time. All other equipment materials needed for individual presentations must be secured by presenters themselves.

 

Internet Access

 

Wi-Fi will be available at all venues; however, we cannot guarantee signal strength in all the rooms. Delegates are advised to prepare their presentations so that Wi-Fi access is not required.

 

Shuttle Service

 

Shuttle services will be provided between all venues after each session to make mobility easier. Each bus will have its venue/ venue no. on it for easy commuting.
